Origins Summer Project
The 'Origins' summer project was a project set for me by my tutors at SGS college in Stroud to be completed over the course of summer 2017 in preparation for my first year of college there. Our brief was to take the word 'Origins' and interpret it how we saw fit to form our project. After some research, I decided to go down the route of the origins of people, juxtaposed with the origins of nature. I painted some studies of people who come from different backgrounds and areas of the world, as well as some studies of nature. This is when I discovered an interest for fluid art so I experimented with that and created a triptych of fluid paintings that represented the ocean to me. I included some primary research in this project from when I visited an exhibition of the artist Polly Nor (whom I actually had the pleasure of meeting !) I then created an embroidery piece inspired by her work on a pair of old jeans. My final piece was a fluid art painting on a 55cm x 45cm canvas.
