Acrylic Pouring Paintings.

20cm x 20cm canvas, mixed media

40cm x 40cm canvas, mixed media

How it's made:

I start by mixing approximately one tablespoon of acrylic paint to half a cup of PVA glue and mixing thoroughly to combine. I mix various colours of similar tones e.g. warm colours so the paint doesn't become muddy when put in contact with each other. I then pour all the colours into one separate cup adding white between some of the layers. I add a few drops of silicone to the cup and pour over the canvas. The silicone helps to create more cells. I then turn the canvas and stretch the paint out across the canvas. Once the paint has then settled, I use a hairdryer to pop any remaining air bubbles and create as many cells as possible. I then leave them to dry, they take around 2-4 days to dry, depending on the size of the canvas and the amount of paint. During the drying process, if I have put too much paint on the canvas, it will drip off the sides and pull the design I worked hard to create so it is important to put the right amount of paint on the canvas so that this doesn't happen. Once the painting is completely dry, I sign and varnish them several times to make all the colours pop and be as bright as possible.
