Fine Artist
GCSE Sketchbook: I
Urban Art Project
The first project in my GCSE fine art course was based around Urban Art and Graffiti. I started this project in late 2015 and finished it in 2016. I started out by doing some artist research and studies of other artist's work. Looking back on it now, I realise, I should have added more information about the artists. After artist research, I came up with three ideas for a final piece inspired by the artist research I completed. I then chose one of the three ideas to adapt into my final piece, this was a portrait of my Mother. It was my first time ever painting a portrait and i'm still proud of it to this day. The painting is acrylic on three 38cm x 20cm canvas.
Fantastic and Strange Project
The Fantastic and Strange project was the second project I completed for my Fine Art GCSE course. I, again started this project with artist research and studies which was now a regular routine for me. I then came up with three ideas for a final piece and chose one of them to adapt into my final piece. My final piece for this project was an under-water self portrait done in acrylics on 30cm x 22cm canvas.
I was never really interested in art until I started studying it for my GCSE's, I realised I had quite a talent for it and knew it was something I wanted to pursue in the future. I really grew to love art and painting, especially, from this course. I never was very good at academic subjects like maths or science so art became a way to release stress and produce work that I was actually proud of.
